Cornell Hosts Annual DanceSport Classic

We hosted our annual competition, the Cornell DanceSport Classic, this past weekend, which featured collegiate and amateur couples from across the Northeast squaring off in syllabus and open events. We’d like to thank all the universities, studios, officials and spectators for attending and making the event such a success! Special shout-out to our competition manger Elyse Wolin and her team for putting on such a well-organized event!

A highlight of the event was the evening’s team match. Penn State, Binghamton, Cornell and a last minute entry of Cornell Alumni all faced off to see which school (or group in the latter case) was best overall. Despite a strong showing of solid dancers from Penn State, Binghamton, and Cornell, no one was match for the Alumni, who paired with a solid group of Cornell newcomers, to claim the custom designed glass trophy from the Corning Museum of Glass.

We would like to share special congratulations to Cornell team member François Hebert and partner Susanna Kohler for claiming first place in Open Standard and to Cornell team members Feizhou Peng and Nicole Agaronnik for taking first place in Open Latin. Also, we are so proud of the success of our Newcomer class and were so excited to introduce them to the world of Ballroom Competitions at our very own home event.

Overall it was a great day for Cornell and a great start to the fall competition season. Videos from the event can be found in the playlist below. Photos from the event can be found in our media section.
