PATTERNS AND ROUTINES FOR AMERICAN AND INTERNATIONAL VIENNESE WALTZ -Copyright Jonathan Tyrone Rowell, 2003 Notes: Both American and Viennese Waltzes are extremely fast in tempo. As a consequence, there are very few figures in the syllabi, particularly the international syllabus which does not permit opening away from the partner in Standard. Bronze 1) Basic Left Turn - like Samba Reverse Turn. LF crosses in front of RF on measures where LF starts fwd. repeatable, unlike slow Waltz left turns. No rise and fall nor sway. 2) Left Hesitation Turn 3) Basic Right Turn - as normal slow Waltz right turn, but extra rotation before first step and after last step allow figure to be repeated. Now rise and fall, but there is sway. 4) Right Hesitation Turn 5) Side Cross Hesitation 6) Fwd Hesitation 7) Progressive Hesitation 8) Curtsey Hesitation 9) Right Outside Run-around 10) Promenade Runaround - similar to slow Waltz pattern.
